Miniature Earth

FAQ

Integration, customization and common questions.

Where can I use Miniature Earth?

On websites, in web applications and inside apps through a WebView that supports modern JavaScript and WebGL. A WordPress plugin is also available for designing and embedding globes directly in WordPress.

How do I integrate it? Does it work with frameworks?

Build your globe in the visual configurator and export an embed, or create everything in JavaScript. You can also extend a globe made in the configurator. Use plain HTML or a framework such as React, Vue, Angular or Svelte; globe rendering runs in the browser.

How does it work in WordPress?

Design and save globes in the WordPress admin area. Add one to a page with the Miniature Earth block or a shortcode, or embed it from a theme template. You can extend the embedded globe through the same JavaScript API.

What is it built with, and what does it require?

Modern JavaScript, ES6 modules and web components, with GPU rendering through WebGL. There are no runtime dependencies. The library is about 44 kB gzipped; maps and other assets load separately. Use a current desktop or mobile browser with WebGL enabled.

Can I show streets, buildings or detailed terrain?

No. Miniature Earth is a stylized globe for overviews, locations and data, rather than a Google Earth replacement. It does not include street maps, 3D city models or detailed terrain.

Where do I get coordinates for my locations?

Place objects visually in the configurator, use coordinates from your own data, or copy latitude and longitude from a map service. Google Maps explains how to find and copy coordinates. Miniature Earth does not convert addresses into coordinates.

Can I create my own 3D markers?

Yes. Use the supplied meshes, or prepare your own OBJ (.obj) models with the Mesh converter included in the Developer Kit. Converted meshes work with both the stand-alone library and the WordPress plugin.

Can I change the map and appearance?

Yes. Change maps, colors, textures, atmosphere, backgrounds and object styles. Start with one of 24 presets, or use your own SVGs, images and 3D meshes.

Can I use my own data and update it live?

Yes. Use your coordinates and values to create and update markers, routes, point collections and country colors. Your JavaScript can load data from JSON, CSV or an API without recreating the globe.

Does it require an API key or use tracking?

No external map service or API key is required. You can host the library, maps, fonts and images on your own server. The library includes no analytics or tracking.

Can I make the globe accessible?

Miniature Earth supports descriptive labels, keyboard-operated locations, an optional location selector and reduced-motion preferences. Add meaningful labels and provide a text alternative for important information shown on the globe.

How do I buy the Developer Kit? Will I receive an invoice?

The Developer Kit is available exclusively through Freemius, our Merchant of Record. The Buy Developer Kit button opens its checkout. Freemius processes your payment and issues an invoice, which is also available in your Freemius customer account. See the legal notice for withdrawal and refund information.

Where are the API reference and examples?

The Developer Kit includes the full developer documentation, API reference, 27 working examples, the visual configurator, Mesh converter and developer support.
